Make No Bones About It Jones

“At our core, beneath the surface, we are all the same—our skeletons the ultimate equalizer. This collection is a celebration of that truth, where I explore the captivating union of bone and spirit, fascinated by how the physical and ethereal intertwine. Each piece reflects my deep reverence for this delicate balance”

AScension

“During the pandemic, while painting while talking on the phone, a skeletal image came out and I imagined a soul rising out of the bones left behind us. As a facilitator of memorials and ceremonies before the pandemic, I longed for all that made transitions easier- with community celebration and mourning. While my candles were lit for so many lost, I felt more determined to live. Every blessed day filled with more and more gratitude”

Awakening

“A memento mori [a Latin phrase that means “remember you must die”]. Dishonor the dead, and they may stir, and rise to confront you. The abstraction represents all we do not yet understand about the spiritual world. One day, we will all be where they are now”

David Lynch’s mad and brilliant movies and style spurred this piece. A master storyteller, inspired artist, and musician that I greatly admire. As of this year, he has moved on to the great director’s chair in the sky. I swear I can hear him proclaim how beautiful it is. What a creator. Thanks David, for a lifetime of amazing. I always felt like your “Star Dream Girl”, and I will be forever saddened that we never met

Up in smoke, down in flames

This art mask was about confronting the loss of loved ones in a preventable accidental death by housefire. Like the flames, it consumes you. It composts memories and mementos into the stories you must retell in order to do the keeping for those things that kept it. This mask empathizes with the pain of loss. Beyond this lies the place where the hardest and potentially the most powerful of beginnings are, surrendering to your Rebirth”

Nightmares

What can all that pandemic induced fear do? It swims, deep into all you do- and this was dark- like creatures who do not know the light and know something is not right. Who knows how things have changed for those beings we haven’t discovered yet. If we are indeed all connected, I send apologies and yearn to change everything or at least something. From the inside out, I dreamt

Antediluvian Blues

“Antediluvian Blues”, mixed media on paper, 6×6″ by Cedar Fox, 2022 (sold)

This tondo (round) painting was inspired by the dinosaurs who remind us all that our time of thriving on this planet could be just a limited blip. Echos of what yet may be again- for us. Some post-modern findings in the sand. Of course it is in blues. Echos of what yet may be again- for us. Yikes right? I am ok with being dramatic.

Inverse X-Ray

This mixed media painting is more about the enduring quality of love, to exist beyond this life and physical plane. If you look closer, it is still there”
